What everyone can see
Charts is a public platform. Everyone, including people without an account and search engines, can see:
- for each of your artists: name, page address, avatar and bio, plus their singles and albums;
- published tracks: title, cover, audio, genre, and lyrics, style and prompt if you chose to show them;
- public playlists and comments, shown under your nickname (a random name you can change) and its avatar; under your own artist’s tracks you can also write as the artist;
- the number of listens, likes and followers.
Artists and nickname are separate identities
One account can have several artists and one nickname for comments and playlists. Publicly they are not linked: neither an artist page nor a track shows your account, email, your other artists or your nickname.
The nickname’s default avatar is the photo from the social network you signed in with: we keep a copy. Everyone who sees your comments can see it. Replace it in settings if you don’t want that photo shown.
What only you can see
Your email and sign-in method, the link between your account and your artists and nickname, tracks under review and hidden tracks, liked tracks, follows, private playlists, notifications and detailed statistics of your tracks.
Listens
To count listens and the chart, we store which track was played, when and from which section, and whether it was played to the end. For signed-in users this is the account number; for guests, a random browser identifier. IP addresses are not stored: instead we keep an irreversible hash of the network, used against manipulation.
Only the track’s author sees this data, and only in aggregated form: how many people listened and where they came from.
What is stored in your browser
Your sign-in token, theme, volume, playback queue, recent searches and the browser identifier used to count listens. You can remove them by clearing the site data in your browser.
Deletion
You can delete a track, comment, playlist, release or artist page yourself; an avatar can be replaced or removed. When you delete your 6io account, your Charts data is deleted too — artists, nickname, images — and listens are unlinked from the account.
Personal data in tracks
Do not publish other people’s personal data in titles, lyrics or comments. If you do, you are responsible for it. If it is about you, report the content or write to us.
